Ketoconazole 2% w/w cream.
KETOWAY Cream is an anti-fungal cream containing 2% w/w Ketoconazole, marketed by Bioglint Derma Care. Ketoconazole is a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal drug that has been clinically shown to be effective in treating fungi such as dermatophytes, yeast (Candida and Malassezia), and others causing fungal infections of the skin. The maximum clinical dosage of topical Ketoconazole is 2% w/w; hence, KETOWAY Cream offers you the optimal dosage to tackle any stubborn and extensive fungal infection of the skin.
KETOWAY Cream is an important product in the antifungal derma range by Bioglint Derma Care, distributed in their network of Derma PCD Franchise all over India.
Ketoconazole 2% w/w Cream is recommended by dermatologists and general practitioners for external application in cases of:
Ketoconazole belongs to the group of imidazole antifungals, which target the enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51) in the pathway of fungal sterol synthesis. The enzyme is responsible for the conversion of lanosterol into ergosterol, which is the main structural component of the fungal cell membrane. By interfering with this process, Ketoconazole reduces the amount of ergosterol in the fungal membrane, thus causing its structural impairment, increased permeability, loss of cellular contents, and growth inhibition (fungistatic at low concentrations, fungicidal at higher concentrations). Due to its composition of 2% w/w, KETOWAY provides a sufficient concentration of Ketoconazole in the dermis.
Usage of KETOWAY Cream is strictly topical. The cream should be applied in a thin layer on the affected areas and the surrounding skin one or two times a day under the guidance of a dermatologist. The affected areas need to be cleaned and dried prior to the application of the medication. The course of the treatment depends on the condition for which it is taken — 2–4 weeks in case of tinea and 2–6 weeks in case of seborrhoeic dermatitis, unless otherwise specified.
KETOWAY Cream is generally well tolerated when applied as directed. Localised reactions at the application site may rarely include:
Discontinue use and consult a dermatologist if significant irritation or an allergic reaction develops.
KETOWAY Cream is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Ketoconazole, imidazole antifungals, or any excipient in the formulation. It should not be applied to the eyes, inside the nose or mouth, or on severely damaged or raw skin without specific medical advice.
Store below 25°C in a cool and dry place, protected from direct sunlight. Keep the cap tightly closed after use. Store out of reach of children and pets.
